This last month has been a whirlwind. Well, my life is a whirlwind, where my feet barely touch the ground, but that's the way I prefer my life right now.
After an event ful trip home from Rebecca, we hit the ground running for YRBHT 2013. The event was a complete success, despite a few bobbles on my end. But we raised some $ for the program and had some very happy competitors. We also already have fun changes planned for next year!
Allyson Green's wedding to Gary Dutson consumed the next weekend and a great time was had by all. Keeping busy watching two of my great friends tie the knot helped keep my mind off Caber Farms HT, which was Chaos' return to eventing. As excited as I was, I was just as nervous. Did I wait long enough, did I do my homework? Is he fit enough? Is my eye good enough?
Well the answer is yes. After a great dressage lesson w Tamie Smith Thursday, he was the most rideable he's ever been in the dressage ring. Came out of the box on his favorite day on a huge gallop step and stayed there. He was fantastic, like he's never missed a school. Ended the weekend sound, healthy, happy and in 4th. I'm so estatic to have my little monster back in action. Just over a year from his surgery, he got to return to his favorite sport. Longest year of my life, but patience paid off, and he's back, ready for more! Moments like those I shared w him last weekend are the reason we participate in this crazy sport, but often we lose site of that. I learned a very valuable lesson in the last two years, and I'm truely treasuring the process.
